Genesis: or how I learned to stop worrying and love the road.

As far back as I can remember, I have always loved exploring. When I was a young boy, it was hopping on my bicycle and spending all day on the streets of my neighborhood or wandering the hiking trails of Palo Duro Canyon. As a teenager I was mountain biking, skiing and hiking all over the Rocky Mountains from the Tetons to Durango, CO. In my late teens and early twenties, I hitchhiked and rode freight trains all over the United States, never staying in one place more than a few weeks at a stretch. When I was 24, I met my future wife and we drove an Isuzu to Guatemala on a whim.

Since Amy and I have been together, we have lived in four states and two countries. We’ve traveled to 14 countries on five continents. Each time we go somewhere, it pushes us out of our comfort zone. Each time we are pushed out of our comfort zone, we learn more about the world, the people who live in it, and most importantly, ourselves.

The two things that constantly keep me motivated are traveling and bicycling. Currently, we are planning a bicycle tour from Barcelona to Singapore. This blog will chronicle our preparations for the tour and the tour itself. I’m also going to be talking anything else that comes up.
